Catherine White Holman

Please join us in mourning Catherine’s death — by primarily celebrating her life — on Wednesday, Dec 9, at the WISE Hall. Memorial begins at dusk (4:30pm). At 5:30pm we’ll have a candlelight procession to bring Catherine into the hall.

For the rest of the night, there will be live music both sprightly and sad, singing, dancing, revelry, and many chances to share our memories, our sadness, and our joy. Guests are encouraged to come and eat, drink, and be scandalous. Catherine always loved a party. She also loved to be celebrated and she brought joy into so many of our lives. Help us to make her last party an event to remember.

All ages, all welcome. Dress your best. We’ll have tables full of tasty food, and a cash bar.

Donations are welcome to the Catherine White Holman Memorial Fund, and we’ll have a donation jar for those who feel they can contribute. Donations are possible in other ways. For information: donate@sdholman.com

Details:

White enameled metal construction. Sturdy and heavy.

Corded, it plugs into wall socket, and socket (shown in gallery) on side of table becomes live for when you need an extra electrical appliance to bring light, power or that certain zing to your activities.

The table top easily raises on a hinge (just pull up) to form a type of chair back. Adjustable to various inclinations. Release is a foot pedal. Comes complete with a roll of paper, for that fresh clean feeling.

All the drawers and doors open and move easily.

There’s a step at the Doctor end, one presumes for easy mounting of the patient. Um, I mean, patients need to climb onto tables safely!

The world of BDSM often speaks of Leather as an identity, or as shorthand for our passions, but what about leather itself? The hides of animals, our second skins, this material that once lived and breathed has inspired erotic explorers for generations… why? From tools of pain and pleasure to the wide varieties of clothing that wrap around our form and conform to our shape with time- we will examine our tough exteriors to find how leather fetish has inspired leather sex, and in turn, leather soul, identity and spirit… and the term “Leather Community” itself. Bring at least one piece of leather with you- be it a piece of your earned leathers if you come from that tradition, your favorite flogger, a tight pair of gloves, your favorite boots, your old friend of a belt, or something else to inspire yourself or others as part of this conversation towards understanding leather as more than a raw material.

arts lovers, handy folk, friendly folk, and all sorts of all ages to
help out in these areas:

-artwork installation/takedown (don’t have to have experience but you
should be handy!)
-art gallery hosts (without hosts the doors close and no one can see
the amazing art exhibition)

You’ll get a free ticket for 4 hrs of help, get a chance to see lots

This is a call for writers/readers/performers of queer erotic literature (and written filthy smut and porn) to read at Queerotica, a “collective fundraiser” (to pay you, the local queer writers who read porn at this event) on August 6, 2009 during Pride week in Vancouver.

What we’re Looking For:
Writers who are willing — nay, eager — to read or recite their own pieces of queer erotica/porn/smut. Erotica must be queer-themed, which includes gay, lesbian, bi, and all flavours of queer transgender. We’d love to see raunchy, transgressive, smokin’ hot porn. We’d love erotica featuring queers of all different races, sizes, ages and abilities. We’d like to see intelligent, contemporary, mind-bending porn that leaves the listener hot, wet, hard, or dizzy. We’d like to see clever erotica that makes us laugh and sigh and smile knowingly at our lover. We’ll even look at poetry!
Restrictions (the usual suspects): no children, animals, former food, or former people.

Today seems to be a day for remembering, and celebrating.

First the remembering:

Here’s a pic of my dad Jim Miller, taken in 2001 or so.  He died in 2002, of kidney failure caused by diabetes. I was holding his hand as he went.

I still miss him every single day. He was a loving, simple, patient man, and throughout my life he taught me everything I know about kindness, and nothing that I know about cruelty. My Dad’s acceptance and love was always a constant to me — an emotional surety as strong as my understanding of the ground I stand on.

Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Wish I could tell you that in person.

Funny that I grew up to be a Daddy, too — albeit a wildly different kind.

So, to the two lovely brats who (as of last week) are each in possession of half of my green hanky — thanks for saying yes. You’ve made me a very happy pervert. And I’ll try to be the very best Daddy I can be.
